Studio visit

Just finished a studio visit with a Portland, OR gallery.  Went well.  Spent about an hour and a half doing the old “dog & pony”.  Damn, sometimes it sucks to make large sculptures that require large crates and much $$$$$ to ship.  Mental note to self, must learn to make some smaller pieces.  Just soooooooooooooo hard to work small.  At least I’m realizing that if the work doesn’t touch the floor, it doesn’t have to compete against furniture.

Sad that the work ends up competeing with furniture, no?

YES! THIS IS A CONCERN. I think you should consider the matchstick. It is tiny and smells funny. These are good attributes, but are not necessarily the attributes of quality artwork. You are a super star!!!

Dear Art Superstar,

Why make sculpture? Is my question. Sculpture is unwieldy. It doesn't smell enough. You need to work with cheese.

Love,

Helen

Helen,
Some may say my work is already a bit "cheesey".
